As a nation (USA) we have forgotten how to pay the debt of our existence; meaning that we have denied our past, traded in the common good for money and have become insular as you have so stated.

Not everyone is like this. Many here on this platform are working through civility to right wrongs, champion justice and turn the world from the inside-out, upside down place it is to a right-side-up place.
