A relative of mine - A Trump Republican doesn't donate money to causes unless she can write it off on her taxes. I've always thought as does the dictionary that a donation is "freely given".

Some people when they become rich (in money) lose their spirit. Like my relative, she brought her fear of not being enough to shape her conservative stance so that the huge amount of money she has will never be enough.

Thank-God all people with Money are not like her - that many give back. I give too what and when I can.

The problem today with the aid of tech is we're more isolated in our separate bubbles when we thought it would unite people; we didn't count on the darker elements of isolation, insular thinking and closed groups or bubbles of opposite ideologies.

Besides giving to those in need there is the connective tissue of emotion that binds us together. I believe liberals and conservatives have emotional needs that are the same. I look for these binding feelings in people who are not liberal like me and start by listening.
