I read that the masons that Notre Dame were from Masons of old that were Masters of Wisdom that used art, architecture and sacred geometry to invoke sacred feelings and humility amongst anyone who entered the Gothic Cathedrals. JG Bennett wrote a book called The Masters of Wisdom where he writes about this.
