Belief in God usually comes from parents to children and is accepted as a given. Strongly held beliefs live in a separate world from proof. In my experience its pointless to examine beliefs as proof.

Belief may arise from experience. That could be different. For instance Jesus Christ came to visit me at night when I was 4 years old. He didn't speak, he just helped protect me. But God?

I came to see the evidence of God as the continuous act of creation that happens around us always. AKA biological processes for one. Or the birth of stars. This is God for me, But not a human-type projection. God is the continuous process of creation and destruction.
