Capitalism is a failure only in as much that it disregards Earth as an object to be used and discarded. The system is based on Earth as an unlimited resource, as I'm sure almost everybody knows by now (or is living in denial). And it uses Earth as a trash bin as well. (There are more reasons why it doesn't work in its current iteration.)
