Time freezes:
Tim stands. He slaps the top of the bureau with his open hand and says,
“That’s it. I’ve had it. I’m done.” He opens his prescription bottles, takes the pills, takes the pills from a large bottle of aspirin from the shared bathroom, cries, closes his eyes thinking he is dead.
Nothingness.
His chorus rises up to fight his urge to die.
Princess, Tasha, Ted, Hrez, and Farha gathered to observe as the fragmentary beings within yell at Tim.
“Get up,” an adolescent male thug bellows.
“On your feet,” Betsy shouts in his ear.
Princess rolls over, disappearing from the group and into his body. She forces his legs to the floor. His legs jerk and spasm as they move.
“You’re a fucking pussy,” young Pris hisses at him. “You’re no kind of man.”
Princess uses his body to sit up. Thug number two, Brutus LeClerk, forces him to stand. He falls backwards on the bed three times before he stands.
