Earth was never meant to be owned. To believe that this as true means that we humans are enslaving Earth as things, commodities that serve us. When humans work to own Earth’s resources, we also become owned: slaves to using and being used. Following the logic of humans being a part of Earth and also using Earth’s lives namely: plants, animals (humans are animals too), minerals aka natural resources, air and water — the power-possessing humans and systems make us all into slaves for use. The hierarchical system of the patriarchy must always have someone else below us in the vertical hierarchy.

In short we as humans are caught up in a system that treats everyone has objects rather than sacred beings.

Aren’t we meant to be stewards of Earth, like a shepherd?
