He decided that there, in the cabin, he could find warmth and answers to the questions that burned in his heart. He pulled himself across the ice to the frozen shore. Forced into the cold, he used his breath to relax, allowing his body to create warmth. The gentle nature of his stride furthered his inner warmth as he neared the cabin. The sun had set. Twilight had come.
A tall, dark-figured woman appeared at the shelter’s door as he arrived.
“Come in. I expected thee sooner than this. Thou must be cold?”
He nodded, blowing on his fingers.
She seated him by the stone hearth in a plush chair and draped a heavy blanket over his shoulders. After a time, he said, “I know you.”
