Deep within the fortress, Silken met with the four leaders of The Guard and their immediates.

“He will come from the west or the northwest,” Silken said. “If he comes at night, you may not be able to see him. No harm must come to him. If harm comes to him, you will answer to me.

“Is that clear?” Silken was fierce in tone and countenance.

The four leaders and their seconds and thirds mumbled amongst themselves. The Chief of the Guard turned to Silken.

“We understand. Yes, it is clear. No harm will come to him by the Guard.”

“Good,” Silken said, stood and walked away toward her hut.
