Here is an alternate view of what you state that's in a story in my book "A Long Initiation: Unexpected Magic".
In church to relieve boredom I came up with a question - "If there wasn't a me what you there be?" I'd drive myself to the precipice of insanity and then pull back.
I never shared the experience with anyone until Honors Literature in 12th grade of High School. A classmate said: "Oh you were trying to conceive of nothing." He inadvertently reduced my experience of "nothingness" to a word. The feeling of nothingness I had had 10 years earlier was reduced to a word. The mystery was gone.
Moral to the story. Be careful of sharing ineffable experiences to another. Or undefined experiences are best left unsaid.
