I began to write my 3 Democrat Reps — namely Senators Harris, Feinstein and Congressman Thompson, cajoling, inciting, pleading, involving compliments and humor to adopt a news conference a day or even a week, weeks ago in order to cause a ruckus, to take what Republicans have been doing for years in making Dems seem like traitors and the enemy and turn the tables on them only this time with the truth.
Then I realized after a few days of writing that most if not all the emails would never be read by my Reps; some staffer would be using narrow criteria to make a note or two if that and then trash the email. But would they ever adopt this rabble rousing strategy? Nope. Because to do so means disturbing their assumptions about applying high moral standards to the GOP who don’t give a crap about Democrats standards. And it would threaten the supply line to Corporate donors.
What I see as winning not just the Presidency, stopping the nominee from holding the position of the Supreme Court Justice and ultimately returning the power of government to the reigns of the people is not something wimping Democrats are willing to do. Period.
They have to be concerned about mainlining the Corporate Donor Stream and being careful when democracy is about to be banished forever.
I am so infuriated and exhausted of feeling this way I want to give up, and I do at times, because I need sleep at night — only 5 hours last night. Between fire season here in California, the debilitating smoke and the heat waves — over 100 degrees here today and Covid-19 I feel like I’m battling idiots.
I’m 69 years old and I don’t suffer fools lightly. I protested Nixon and was anti-war in the 70s and right now I’m tired and worn out. Tomorrow it will be better and I’ll fight some more as well as weigh options.
