I bought my first smart phone about a year ago, for the purposes of confirming my identity so I could get on the Medium pay wall. Other than id verifying, I use it for phone calls. That's it. The dumb phone I had before - I had had it for about 9 years.

I've had my childhood toaster for 16 years and my parents have had it since 1956 a working toaster for 66 years in the family. I don't have to push it down twice to get perfect toast. GE- built to last.

I drive about 4,000 miles per year and stay home most of the time and I live in California.. I know I could drive even less.
