I can recommend some books. P.D. Ouspensky's books are laid out with rigorous logic. I like de Ropp's books because the cut through the BS and are simple to read and to the point. "Warrior's Way" is his auto-biography. He lived through the bombing of London in WWII. He experimented with LSD. And did work with groups in California. I met him by fortunate accident. He worked with Gurdjieff and Ouspensky. Besides the books mentioned he wrote "The Master Game" about the roles we play.

If you want to really stretch your attention you can read Gurdjieff's science-fiction allegory on humankind called: "Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson". Its not light reading. Read it aloud if you dare buying the book.
