I have written a few screenplays and pitched one to an agent in the 1990s, but he shot it down. He wanted to know what else I had. At the time, I didn't have anything else.
Screenwriting is very different from all other forms of writing. ! minute = 1 page. There needs to be a hook within the first few pages. Screenplays rely on moving the action forward through action sequences written sparingly; dialog always supports the action. Syd Fields is one author that comes to mind on writing screen and teleplays. Screenplays are for films and teleplays for television. If you're serious about it I recommend taking a course on screenwriting, and the software to buy is Final Draft Pro. All the professions use it. I have a copy. Years ago, I wrote a slapstick comedy script called "The Walk-Ins." I've been re-constructing it from memory. It has many sight gags, puns, and low humor.
