I love your expat open mindedness. I practice being non-political with my sister. She's a righty and I'm a lefty, though she's left handed and I'm not. There was a time that I couldn't talk with her - mainly because she talked without stopping - no room for conversation. Even when I told her I didn't want to talk about politics.

Several years after not talking by phone we now have wonderful conversations and we laugh a lot. She may stray into the political. I listen and don't respond. She gets it and we resume talking about our mutual past.

With my other friends we don't talk politics at all. We have fun.
