I loved your piece. The part about replacing a bad habit with a good one is an important insight / step and in making change. And making room to be human - aka slip-ups! Bravo! Support of a friend and a support group is an invaluable step - one that I had forgotten.

As humans we hate to give things up, such as a habit. Even bad habits have a kind of homeostasis within us that serve to keep us comfortable even if the comfort is a miserable one. When I gave up smoking cigarettes I decided I wanted to breathe cleaner air, feel my emotions fully and have a closer relationship with Spirit instead of smoking. It was the third time for quitting - now smoke-free since November of 1983.
