I read Dune in the 70s. Denis Villeneuve's version follows the plot of the book pretty well in my recollection and seems out-dated to me.
Watching it I liken the Fremen to Bedouin or Berbers both indigenous to the desert.
While the film is brilliantly executed - I was mostly impressed by the music. The themes are worn-out high soap operas. Many, my self included. are tired of "Royalty" both in its tradition form of Kings and Queens, Emperors etc. and Authoritarian so-called Leaders. Though accurately displayed here in the film is wearisome.
Even after all these years the film follows the book, so it was helpful to have read the book.
Does this explain your weariness / tiredness with the film?
