I rent and I have gas heat and a gas stove, as many people I know who live in California renters and homeowners alike.
I have changed my lifestyle considerably to reduce my carbon footprint. Since I work from home I drive about 3 to 4K miles per year. I use tap/gray water for gardening.
I believe "reducing carbon footprints" was started by oil companies.
My deal with the oil companies - I'll give up my gas stove and bare the expense of putting in an electric one - a sacrifice while I rent with a subsidy from oil companies.
The oil companies, as afar as I can see Have not lived up to their promises to cut oil production.
