I was a semi-professional nature photographer during the age of film. With the advent of digital photograph and now smart phone cameras I have gone in the other direction.

Nature is a living community. Photographs that are "just taken randomly" and in great number don't come close to remembering the essence of experience. The tech of image separates us from the world. Language also is a technology that separates us from the fullness of direct experience through the senses and the practice of being present.
