I work as a healer. Self-Help books and articles are geared for the "General Person". I've never met a "general person", just unique individuals.

This is one reason why self-help books don't work and may even be an addiction. When I had students (in 1 to1 settings) they wanted the work to be easy, to include extraneous ideas, experience, opinions etc. that didn't belong in the work. Working on oneself is not easy. Its not for everybody.

I don't offer help. I offer tailored interactive work that is centered on becoming present. This may include increased self-esteem, confidence , etc. and it is up to the individual to discover this on their own.

A teacher of mine once said - I'm paraphrasing: "People who ask for help are like children with a feeling that they deserve something based on nothing. They want a piece of roast chicken to fly into their mouths without having to do anything for the reward."

The Self-Help that pours out of everywhere has been capitalized into a competition. This is dangerous.
