I worked in alternative - social rehabilitation - crisis residential and transitional programs in Northern California for nearly 20 years. A community based mental health systems approach tailored to the clients needs seemed to be the most effective treatment. I saw about 30 to 40 % of the clients go on to lead productive lives.

In the 1970s I was misdiagnosed. My therapist in the 90s said I was suffering from a complex form of PTSD as a evidenced by multiple flashbacks of ritual sexual /incest - abuse. The flashbacks were brought on by a homeopathic formula for skin issues. This was a relief because it felt right and gave be a base in which to work from.
