If a person walking down a street saw me they might think - he's a regular guy. The spirituality that is woven throughout my life is practical, therefore my public persona does not display any spirituality in a overt fashion.

The world changes all the time. But it does not transform readily. Spiritual awakenings may be akin to initiations into higher orders of working on oneself with the context of others. A spiritual awakening without an on-going practice does not make for balance. Transformation - which seems more apropos than change as you suggest in your enticing title is what the world needs now. But the solar system is as far away from the center of the Milky Galaxy as it can get in its orbit. Meaning that we are just barely coming out of the darkness and heading back into the light as a species.

Awakening and what we do with it in the context of relationship with all beings (not just humans) - as you write is part of the growth of consciousness and an aid in releasing suffering. Right?
