In the 40s and 50s Paul Bowles who wrote "The Sheltering Sky" and hung out with Burroughs - dropped acid etc, recorded trance music in the High Atlas Mountains at a few Berber festivals.

In the 60s a group of hippies started ZBS (they have a website) and made audio recordings / adventures. Their most famous metaphysical / interdimensional adventure was "Moon Over Morocco" with the character Jack Flanders. Bowles recordings are a part of adventures. Of all the satires and metaphysical audio adventures "Moon Over Morocco" is my all time fav. I discovered them in the early 80s. They have samples on their website.
