I've already started looking for common ground with one Trump supporter/devotee: my sister.

For a time I thought about what to do. Right now I'm on an information gathering communications strategy to find out how she responds to problems that face America.

For my part it takes great patience and kindness. It takes asking questions without displaying and / or putting aside my reactiveness, outrage and even fury at her ignorance.

The first topic was: homelessness. I continued to ask questions and noted her responses. She never once asked any questions of me. And she pointed to causes without mentioning any possible solutions. When confronted with a question she could not answer she deflected / avoided (saying - I don't know.) She deflected into predjudical judgements about people wearing ink.

For my own protection I had to stop and leave the conversation (by phone).
