My concern is that the army of Trump lawyers will stall once indictments are issued until Trump is sworn in for a second term. This is not to say he will have won the election, but given the many Republican State Houses that have control over the vote (and not Secretaries of State) he will steal the election if he doesn't win outright.
Once Trump is sworn in for a second term he will be poised to become Dictator and will suppress and nullify indictments. This is the worst case scenario.
If Republicans grow a backbone as the NY State indictments pan out, they will break with Trump and ally with the rule of law. This is a long shot. But one that exists.
Right now before the midterms is the time to introduce the indictments in NY if possible and perhaps kill Trump's re-election bid and his blind GOP cronies from the next (successful?) coup of the US.
