My father was a highly educated, well informed conservative, WWII Vet and did not believe in conspiracy theories and he was angry (addictively so) at Democrats in the belief that "they" were destroying the nation. He did not rely on the internet for his information. I know some conservatives that have and have not been swept up into the con of Trump. For the ones that have been swept-up by the con of Trump some are not fooled by Q-Anon and disappointed with the Roe decision but believe Trump's votes were stolen ('20). While other conservatives I know are hiding out.
My father was angry because he believed people of lesser intelligence than him were inferior and did not deserve "special treatment" that the Dems gave them. He was class blind - he didn't believe Americans lived in a class system at all. (He passed in his 80s in 2006.) I have had many debates with him about politics. He never moved from his conservative beliefs and I did not move from my liberal beliefs.
While I agree that many of GOP and conservatives will always be angry I do not agree with you that they are the "ignorant" MAGA folks at Trump rallies, etc. There is a tendency amongst MSM to paint all conservatives/GOP in a MAGA ignorant light when its more complex than that.
I deduce that old school (older generational) conservatives are angry because they lost to Dems in the 1960s and later subscribed to the Carl Rove/Newt Gingrich philosophical bent that Dems are the enemy and must be destroyed philosophy. Only those GOP that we might consider moderate are interested in governing, but clearly they are not the majority.
Just saying.
