On an individual basis: 1. Sponge baths instead of showers; 2. Xeriscape instead of lawn; 3. Buckets of water from rinsing vegetables and other grey H2O for certain yard plants and flushing toilets (if its brown flush it down, if it's yellow let it mellow).
This is Northern California - which will become unlivable due to the fires and drought.
I have petitioned, berated my state government reps to provide tax credits to build cisterns (that could easily be used in conjunction with solar) for water conservation and use. NO RESPONSE since 2017 when I began. If I owned a house in an unincorporated area I'd do it myself. I rent.
I read about water as a commodity investment about 15 years ago. One guy was devoting all his resources as a commodities broker to water. It took me a few minutes to wrap my head around it.
Now I wonder, do I rinse/wash for re-use or recycling or trash it for landfill?
