Opening the third eye without a connection to the heart chakra often feeds ego. The heart chakra is the center of emotion which produces love which is also light.

When the light or love from the heart chakra blends with the third eye perception of inner and outer worlds gains depth and is able to connect to our Higher Self more readily.
