Predatory capitalism is inexorably linked with the patriarchy.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Policies made in the 1970s and 80s restructured that way our culture (America) could reap benefits from capital. This gave rise to the ultra-rich and the notion that there is no-such thing as “too much money”. Clearly making money and investing it is an addictive process — the more you get the more you want.

In a sense we’re all mainlining money. The top of the 1% has made us slaves to them and addicted to money, whilst the natural world has been raped and the Climate Crisis fomented.

The patriarchy had to have its last gasp (hopefully) through the puppet-president — epitome of a self-serving mob boss. If it wasn’t him it would have been someone else that may have been less obvious.

The patriarchy and predatory capitalism are intertwined. The origins of the patriarchy may have been a reaction to the horizontally structured matriarch where men were discounted by Goddess figures. When they rebelled they took women as slaves and set-up a male inherited culture. The patriarchy is an oppressive and injust system designed to make women slaves (they reworded it as women “dependents”) and men of lower class and/or people of color subservient to the educated white misoygnistic, homophobic and racist leaders at the top. Of course many of these men are not conscious of their places in the patriarchy. I am not totally aware either due to the systematic indoctrination of identified males. It took a lot of work top get to a place to experience the injustice of this veritcal system of dominance and violence.

Most men are very good at compartmentalization which is both a patriarchal value and one that is intrisnic to our addictive nature towards money and predatory capitalism.

However the broader strokes seem to indicate that the collapse of the patriarchy could bring predatory capitalism to a halt in effort to save the human species from extinction. Its a long shot, but…
