Grief is the most common human emotion because its bound together with love.
I was a Crisis Counselor in alternative Mental Health for 20 years. What I learned is to meet people where they are at, match your energy with theirs in terms of whether they want to improve or wallow. If friends don't ask for help while grieving or with any problem don't try to give without their permission. I could be present while they talked and grieved without saying anything. Being an empathic witness is sometimes enough.
Also if people ask for advice, you give, they don't follow it, they ask again... I learned that many times people need to learn their own lessons. It's their karma and none of my business.
