The bubbles of tribalism yielding comfort, complacency and the rejection of science on a somatic level are both small and large parts of the problem.

Capitalism in its current iteration is oil to the organic vinegar of democracy. Greed that arose in the 1960s in the US turned democracy towards the oligarchy we have now. It has helped shaped media to turn citizens into consumers with increasing short attention spans of cadres of salivating dogs or slaves to the rich.

By the time we awaken and take action it will be too late to stop the collapse. But perhaps the caveat of collapse is a rebirth of an ecologically human society that interacts with Earth's processes towards balance.
