The common good once existed in America and was then replaced by money as the common good/value. It's an addiction. Even the wealthiest top 0.0001% want more money which equates to power. The millionaires want more, the doctors and the dentists want more, and of course, the people without it are desperate for more because they need it; the middle class and poor need it to live - to have the bare necessities.

The 99% can no longer retire. Social Security is not the safety net it used to be in the 1950s and early 60s.

Therefore Social Security could be phased out for everyone (except those with disabilities- those under Social Security Disabilities) in the US over the next 20 to 30 years while replacing it with Universal Basic Income for everyone, children included. Medicare for All needs to be included in this plan too.

Tax the rich. Invest heavily in public higher education. Take the Germany Model of Technical Schools - and Google has a version of this and train technical workers, coders, programmers, systems analysts, repair people and so on. Shape public higher education to assist students to think critically through various modes of thought.

Introduce Emotional Intelligence education and critical thinking in secondary schools.

Legalize street drugs and open treatment centers for those with addiction issues. Subsidize housing and raise the minimum wage on state and local levels until a ground swell is reached for a nationalized movement.

The work of Darrell Walker - President of The Ford Foundation is focusing grants on economic justice rather than allowing donors to feeling good just helping smaller groups of people. He is an example of a reconciler.

Educate people to be reconscilers to find the emotional bonds between opposing factions, receptive facilitators to see the wider long range implications of actions now and in the future and change agents to implement actions based on a common good.
