In Three Parts — A Fantasy Novel ~ Hero’s Journey Part 1 — Desert

Most chapters are a 5 to 6 minute read, some are a bit longer. An 8 minute read is maximum.
Part 1 — Desert is a free story for all. And I encourage you to become a Member of Medium on an ad hoc basis (monthly) to help support me as a writer, for your own blog, hone your writing skills and explore this community of writers and readers.
Introduction
The story arose out of a vision. The vision flowed out of me in 1981. The first go-around published to a limited audience ©2019. I realized amidst sales of the original that I missed an opportunity for a solid subplot.
This new endeavor will add that subplot to support the primary story, and a new character — a spirit animal. This story will be tighter with greater mystery, suspense, and action.
There will be an Afterward† for an elaboration of the mystical events of the vision. The vision played a part in channeling major portions of this novel. The Afterward will appear after the conclusion of the last chapter. If you want to know immediately what led up to the vision consider my latest book:

The novel is in three parts:
Part One — Desert
Part Two — Forest/Pastoral
Part Three— After The Fall
† — Like a Forward appearing at the beginning of a book, an Afterward appears after the book finishes. I dispense with a Forward, an Introduction or a Preface because a story speaks for itself. The only way I would consider these preambles would be if they were written by someone else.
My philosophy is: Get on with it. Or — get into the story. The story is the thing. Cinema has a teaser in the first ten minutes but does not have a long exposition such as a Preface, Forward or Introduction.
I appreciate the irony, as this is an Introduction. It is short.
