The older version of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers and Mental Health Workers used this manual to Diagnose and "treat" people. Sociopaths were once considered Psychopaths.
(It may have been that Psychopathic Personality Disorder was never in the DSM at all now that I think about it. ) But Sociopath was and now is not at least in the DSM - R (revised) #4.
Most likely now they are probably Narcissistic Personality Disorders.
