My Father was un upper-level managing of the original Ma Bell before it was broken up into pieces.
He was angry that one of our neighbors worked as a mail carrier and made almost the same money as he did as an executive manager. When I asked for his reasoning he said: "Everybody knows that intellectual work is more valuable than manual labor." I called him an elitist snob and added that I felt all work should be equally valued.
