the purpose of suffering, part two

The Basics

I think we would all agree that part of the human condition involves suffering. When we suffer whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual we don’t like it, we resist it, we avoid it, we suppress or repress it. If we don’t know the immediate cause of the suffering we don’t care to look into the cause. We want it to go away. In the case of chronic physical pain, we will often take a pill to escape the pain. We may know that our anguish originates from our dysfunctional family and either rationalize and/or cope with this or deny it altogether. These are parts of the responses to pain that exist with nearly all humans.

Two Premises

The extra cause of suffering besides involuntary suffering is attachment to suffering. The purpose of suffering is to create energy for higher consciousness for oneself, for humanity and for Consciousness.

Ego, Language and Attachment

One of the conditions of human egos is attachment and/or identification. Thinking or saying “I” “me” “mine” our ego attaches to an experience. The nature of being human is attachment as long as we have an “ego”. A logical but naïve response to having an ego is a desire to get rid of it. Groups of many “new age thinkers” believe one can go through life without an ego. This is delusional grandiosity and a misunderstanding that ego is egoism — related to narcissism, for example. Ego is not the enemy of spiritual evolution, but an ally in our work to release attachment in the present (more on this later).

Language — both in spoken and written form belong to and are intimately entwined and fused with ego. Both language and ego are the forces of the managerial aspect of daily lives and belong to finite time and corporeal existence. The self even in its underdeveloped state recognizes the “place” beyond time or the infinite; in short, the world of Being. The self, the core, or essence of our lives is left fallow when language develops and we model behaviors of our parents, siblings and later our teachers and peers. The pull of the outer world is so titillating and exciting that the inner world of self or essence is neglected.

In turn we come to believe that our “happiness” is out there, coupled with career, marriage, family, children and so on. Conversely pain is viewed oppositionally.

The Nature of Physical Pain

In other words, we are attached to the avoidance of pain and the desire “to get rid of it”. The attachment to the avoidance of the pain is a binding agent which helps increase pain. [When my body resists feeling pain, I tighten or tense my muscles in recoil against the feeling / injury. The act of tensing includes the site of the pain and surrounding muscles. This may be the shock of the experience of an injury or a chronic incidence of pain.] Others with autoimmune diseases have identities based on a diagnostic label of which pain is often a symptom. I am not advocating that by letting go attachment alone that the pain will vanish completely, nor am I suggesting we stop trying to reduce pain through the use of diets, supplements, medications, interdimensional healing and looking to causal factors. Letting go of attachment to pain in the moment can sometimes reduce pain to levels that are more manageable by ego compartmentalization and other techniques for example. In the case of an acute injury relaxing into the pain rather than tensing up against it can release anywhere from 70 to 95 percent of the pain and can heal a strain or sprain within a few minutes with some caveats. Some caveats may include the amount of light originating from Being that is present within the physical body for example.

Understanding the purpose of suffering

In part one I wrote briefly about conscious suffering. Suffering cannot be 100% conscious 100% of the time for obvious reasons: we’re not always suffering, but when we are, there is a natural tendency to avoid pain. The nature of pain, mainly the avoidance of it is one way of closing off part of life or acting in a waking sleep. Habit and addictively seeking out comfort are other ways of sleep or living unconsciously. The belief in work to live consciously all the time is usurped by ego and becomes illusion until a greater understanding is reached.

The purpose of pain does not become evident until we apply these ways of working that lend towards freedom and higher levels of consciousness in the moment:

· Acknowledgement of dislikes — namely the different modes of pain: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual

· A willingness to explore pain in all its forms while working to release attachment or identification in the moment

· Working to develop the core self or essence from which the witness emerges and may with additional work become a steward. Stewardship with prolonged daily focused work may develop into Mastery.

· Working from the Witness Self (from core self or essence) to observe aspects of suffering beginning with physical pain

· Working at set times during set days on letting go of attachment to pain/suffering that one may encounter in one’s self.

· Working daily to produce light within the three bodies: physical, mental and emotional

· Storing the light/energy produced by only talking about it to one’s guide or teacher. The storage of the light/energy is applied to on-going work to increase one’s personal work, to increase work with others and to increase work in the body of Consciousness.

The purpose of suffering needs a developed core self. Once the core self is sufficiently developed, it gains the ability to act as a witness to ego’s automatic functions, habits, beliefs, attachments and its life within “sleep”. The witness needs our ego as a source of friction to create the energy or light for higher works.

This way of working is thousands of years old and follows the law of three.

· The “Yes” force is an affirming and/or yang force associated with “Will”. “Yes” forces are in the world of the physical universe and manifest with a positive (+) charge as in a proton.

· The “No” force is a denying and/or yin force associated with receptivity. “No” forces manifesting in the physical world have a negative (-) charge as in an electron. Here the negative charge is not meant to have a value such as negative emotions, but only describe a property within Newtonian Physics.

· The “Neutral” force appears not to exist. Without it the “Yes” and “No” forces would annihilate each other. The Neutral is a buffer between the “Yes” and the “No” forces. The Neutral force does “nothing” and manifests from a place outside time or from the world of Being. “Being” due to the limits of linear space-time and language is impossible to describe adequately. We can equate the “Neutral” with the Witness Self, the steward and the Master. The Neutral may be represented with no charge (0) as in the neutron.

Concluding Notes

The work towards fulfilling the purpose of suffering, namely to transform the chaos of pain and suffering into light (a higher more organized form of energy) requires specific criteria:

1. A teacher or guide is necessary, especially to help the student to avoid the hanky-panky of one’s ego with regard to creating illusions.

2. An individual method can be introduced so that the student can shape it as one’s own. Every student has different ways of working. There is no text-book or set book or guide that can assist a student without a living guide or teacher.

3. Teachers can be replaced, especially if the teacher seeks to keep the student a student due to ego delusions on the part of the teacher. In other words, the teacher grows as much as the student during the process and is able to release the student as a peer or equal usually through mutual agreement.
