The spiritual practice I have been following for the last 45 years has had the aim to be present in mind, heart and body and to work on self-observation. Self-observation allows a map to form of the many fragmented parts of ego without judgment.
I cultivate difficult people in my life to learn lessons about my own carbunkles, to learn forgiveness, increase self esteem and to continually remind myself that everyone has their own path. Their path is none of my business.
When my buttons are repeatedly pushed by a friend, I know they have lessons to teach me and I welcome this.
If I unfriend someone on FB over miner slights or even major political disagreements then clearly I am not challenging myself to grow beyond my own limitations. Discomfort allows me to grow. Comfort promotes sleep.
