There are two books on writing that I recommend.
Are you familiar with the humanistic science-fiction writer Ursula K. Le Guin? Most people don't read fiction these days. She wrote a book on writing: "Steering The Craft: A Twenty-First-Century Guide to Sailing the Sea of Story". mostly about fiction writing and it can be used for non-fiction too.
And "Dreyer's English" by Benjamin Dreyer -copy chief at Random House with dry laugh-out-loud humor. The basics in style.
On Medium - write, write, write. Before you publish edit, leave it for a while, read it aloud to yourself edit again. Cut out the fat - unnecessary or repetitive use of words.
Try reading Rebecca Romanelli's personal non-fictional stories.
I will re-read the piece of work you wrote with an eye for improvement.
