“I swam out of the sea,” she said, all shiny with water and a bright plump face.
She pushed him out of the water. And smiled, teeth flashing, and she beamed with a giddy joy.
“You look hungered” she continued. “I will share my fish with you. My camp is in the tall fir trees there.”
He vaguely saw her hairy arm pointing.
Spirits of the desert occupied his sleep. He lay by her fire, sweating and shivering. And with blankets, her fire was not hot enough.
