His heart said yes. A giant kodor bird flew down and crouched beside his mother and she climbed onto its back. Gren scrambled up behind his mother. The bird flapped her wings and ascended into the night sky above the storm.
He wondered where they were going.
History. He heard his mother’s voice inside his head.
The bird flapped. Up they went into the airs of the upper atmosphere. Overhead the distant moon was clear above the orange rays of sunrise. As the sun broke over the curvature of the planet the bird descended, in a deep dive. Below in the dusk, Gren saw the fabled Mirrored Lake.
