Chapter 42/ “New Hope” Celebrations
Tuk stood inside a hollowed rock tower about three feet wide. It sat on a plain amid other rock spires of similar girth. This tower, almost 40 feet high, faced the east. A horn tethered to his belt hung at his side. With his spyglass telescope, he spotted a horse without a rider. As the horse drew closer, he saw the rider but could not make out the identity. The rider, slumped over as if dead, seemed stuck to the steed. He took to his horn and sounded a long burst followed by three short bursts. The sound echoed through the valley below.
Three other riders joined Tuk at the base of the tower. Tuk gave report and climbed back up the outside of the spire to his perch.
