It takes a well read reader to be a good writer, in my opinion. Practice. Medium is an excellent place to practice the craft of writing. I find it very supportive. And - by this piece you have written - you have a good command of the language.

I wrote my first short story in 6th grade. My teacher said I plagiarized it. I did not. My dad went to bat for me, told him of our mutual experiences sailing my uncle's boat, asked him to produce the work I stole from. He couldn't. And the teacher failed me. I took this as a backhanded compliment and I have been writing ever since.

At first the writing wasn't so good. But I wrote until I got better. I do have some serial fiction here on Medium. I am re-writing my first book with a complicated romantic subplot in part two. link below-
